FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
 
1) What are the entree portion sizes for the Lunch and Dinner Buffets?
The LUNCH BUFFET entree portion size is 4 oz. per person, which is designed for lunch appetites.
The DINNER BUFFET entree portion size is 6-8 oz. per person, which is designed for dinner appetites. (Please inquire about pricing to change entree portions to different eating times.)
 
2) What is the cost of 2 entrees and 3-4 sides of 1/2 portions for the Lunch and Dinner Buffets?
Parties of 50 or more, 2 entrees and 4 sides of half portions are available at no extra charge.
This provides variety, but not extra quantity. 
 
3) What is the cost of 2 entrees and 3-4 sides of full portions for the Lunch Buffet?
Parties of 25 or more,
2 entrees of full portions are $2 extra per person and sides are $1 extra per person. This provides variety and extra quantity for larger appetites.
 
4) What about switching the pre-selected food pairings of the buffets?
We cater to accommodate your needs & switching the sides is available.
Some may require a nominal fee.
 
5) What about switching the Dinner Buffet to Family Style service?
This option is available for $2 extra per person + 20%
waitstaff gratuity. Famiy style service requires extra food served at each table by waitstaff. This option is not available for the lunch buffet.
 
6) What beverages are available?
Milk, coffee, juice, hot or iced tea, lemonade, fruit punch, bottled water, iced water, canned soda, hot apple cider, hot chocolate or special request. Wine and beer are available, please inquire for prices.

7) What does it mean that Village Hearth Catering sets up the buffet?
Prior to dining time, we assemble the buffet into single or multiple-sided buffet lines according to the final guest count. 
After set up is complete, we depart from the venue, unless otherwise contracted. The buffet is self-serving without wait staff. Buffet wait staff is available at 15% gratuity. The customer provides buffet or dinner tables, chairs and table coverings. For linen rentals refer to Upgrades link. (Buffets = One banquet table per 50 guests.) 
 
8) What does it mean that Village Hearth Catering picks up the buffet?
We return to the venue after the meal to pick up our catering equipment and to box up your leftovers if desired.
 
9) What venues does Village Hearth Catering cater to?
We cater to businesses, homes, churches, schools, clinics, hospitals, fairgrounds,
funeral and nursing homes; town, banquet and legion halls; ballrooms, shelter houses, pavillions and parks throughout the central Wisconsin area within a 90 mile radius of Hewitt. We have catered to Granite Peak Ski Area in Rib Mountain, Stoney Creek Inn in Mosinee, Artsblock in Wausau, Veranda in Medford, Nature's Edge in Waupaca. See our Delivery Zones and Rates link.

10) What occasions and quantity of people does Village Hearth Catering cater to?
We can cater for your business meeting, dinner party, educational seminar, employee appreciation, family or class reunion, wedding reception or rehearsal, baby shower, anniversary, funeral, church function, community outreach or fundraiser. We cater for 20 to 1000 guests, any budget and location within a 24 hour or less notice up to 2 year notice of event. Please inquire for special reduced pricing for your Non-profit organization events.
 
11) What does the customer need to do to book their catered event?
To ensure desired menu, events may require more than a 24 hour notice, but it is not necessary.
When Catering Planner information is acquired, VHC quotes are emailed or mailed. When customer has an acceptable quote, then a deposit of 10% or $100 (whichever is greater) with signed contract is forwarded to the caterer. The deposit is subtracted from the balance due. Please refer to our Catering Planner, Guidelines & Rules link. The contract is available in PDF form.
 
12) Does Village Hearth Catering provide food tastings and catering consultations?
Yes, with an appointment we provide food tastings based on the availability of the desired foods with or without catering consultations. The consultation is FREE for the first hour, past that a $25 consult fee per hour is applicable, which can be applied to the deposit. If a booked event cancels in a time frame in which the deposit is refundable, the consult fee will be deducted from the deposit prior to refund. The deducted amount can be applied at a later date to the deposit of the next catered event that the customer books with Village Hearth Catering. 
 
13) What style of service is available for Custom menus?
The meal is served per plate with china, linen service and 20%
wait staff gratuity. Drop off only with self-serving buffet and no wait staff can be arranged. 
 
14) What are some popular Custom menu items?
Tuscan Chicken, Chicken Blue Pearls, Chicken Dijon,
Surf & Turf, Fillet Mignon, Prime Rib, Blackened Salmon, Salmon Oscar, Grilled Marinated Tuna or Swordfish, Cajun BBQ Shrimp, Margarita Shrimp, Roast Duck, Smoked Pork Chops, Gnocchi, Gourmet Desserts, Cheesecake or special request.
 
15) What quantity of appetizers are needed for an Appetizer party?
The quantity is determined by several factors: your budget /cost per person, the length of meal time,
the types of appetizers ordered and the event's occasion. Some appetizers require a 2 week order time to ensure the desired menu. Please contact us for a quote.
